OPTIMA pharma inaugurates CSPE Center

On 26 June, Optima Pharma's new assembly hall was inaugurated. It has been named the CSPE Center. In what was a festive ceremony, Hans Buehler, the Managing Director of the Optima Group, handed over the ultra-modern building to the staff of Optima Pharma. The new building, with an area of 4,600 square meters, creates the space needed for large-scale complete pharmaceutical systems and optimal working conditions for the employees. Optima has invested a double-digit million sum in the new building in Schwaebisch Hall's Solpark Industrial Estate.

Mitsubishi HiTec Paper Europe will present metallized inkjet paper for extraordinary labels

With the launch of brand-new jetscript METAL VPG 1018, Mitsubishi HiTec Paper is bringing something absolutely unique to the market: a metallic-silver-gloss inkjet paper, developed for water-based inkjet printing and particularly suitable for self-adhesive label applications. What’s so special about this is that metallic glossy inkjet labels were previously only possible using a metallic film. Jetscript METAL VPG 1018, however, is a pure fibre-based paper product with a metallic mirror finish and a transparent, microporous inkjet coating for excellent printing performance.

KHS’ Innofill Can C can filler has British craft brewer Magic Rock convinced

Since its launch in 2017 the KHS Innofill Can C can filler has successfully established itself on the market. Over 30 craft brewers worldwide are already benefitting from this new development from KHS. The Innofill Can C is designed for low to medium outputs depending on the can size, enabling between 10,000 and 40,000 cans to be filled per hour. In addition to quick commissioning and maximum hygiene the system is convincing with its exceptionally low oxygen pickup and faster format changeovers. Magic Rock in West Yorkshire is just one example of the successful reception it has had to date.

Tailor-made 187ml wine can is Europe first

In a Europe first for beverage packaging, Ardagh is introducing a new slimline 187ml can specifically designed to present and protect wine and wine-based drinks. With its special design characteristics and unique sizing, the new can, set to launch in Q1 2020, is the latest addition to Ardagh’s pioneering Wine Can range. Its capacity is a personal wine serve of 187ml – quarter of a standard 75cl bottle, and an attractive option for the increasing number of consumers who wish to enjoy a single drink with a meal or while on the go. The new format will allow wineries to sell single-serve canned wine in new markets and in channels, supporting category growth. For the first time European wineries will be able to sell canned wine in the USA in single packs by using the new Wine Can format.

SABIC introduced its LNP™ ELCRIN™ iQ portfolio of polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) compounded resins derived from recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) to support the circular economy and help reduce plastic waste. By chemically upcycling consumer-discarded PET (primarily single-use water bottles) into higher-value PBT materials with enhanced properties and suitability for more-durable applications, the company is encouraging the use of recycled resins. These products also offer a smaller cradle-to-gate environmental footprint than virgin PBT resin, as measured by Cumulative Energy Demand (CED) and Global Warming Potential (GWP).

Proseal to be acquired by US corporation in £220m deal
09-05-2019
Proseal - a leading provider of tray sealing technology to the food industry - is to be acquired by Chicago-based JBT Corporation. JBT, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the company for a purchase price of approximately £220m, subject to regulatory approvals. The deal will allow Proseal to further expand its business by providing access to JBT’s global sales and service network. Closing is expected in the second quarter of 2019. Dow Schofield Watts Corporate Finance and Spinnaker Corporate Finance advised on the deal.
